Lenten Mobile Part 3

So the third week of Lent added a few changes ~ (you couldn't really tell in the photo of week two what changed, so I've skipped ahead :) I tucked up the longer fabrics, which made them 'swoop' a bit. I added a bunch more ribbon, and some interesting paper stuff called 'tree wrap' that I had found last year at Goodwill. It's like kraft crepe paper and added an interesting texture to the mix. Brown isn't normally a Lenten liturgical color, but I like that it reminds me of my 'dirtiness', and how it's all wrapped up in my journey with Jesus. And He loves me anyhoo :)  I took this photo last night before service started- it sure looks nice at night with the lights shining on it :) imho.....That's all for this week!

Ash Wednesday

"Lent" the journey begin :) Today we commemorate Ash Wednesday- with soup! and fellowship, and journey to the Cross. Pastor is leading us in a study of prayer at our Wednesday evening services, and Sundays. So looking forward to learning more. Even at my *advanced* age, I'm learning new things from Pastor Brian. Truly a Good Shepherd with a heart for Jesus. We are so blessed.

So here's the first in this year's offering for the Sanctuary mobile. I plan to add to it every week, so I started 'small' and simpler. I found some purple sheer curtains at the Goodwill and those are the 4 main fabrics, with some purple ribbons for texture. Will try to take a better photo next week :) 

On another note- some fun things to look at on oldlutheran.com pertaining to Ash Wednesday and Lent :)  I'm going to "get my ash in church" tonight :)

Merry Christmas

so this is the Advent series I made- probably 20 years ago- for our old Sanctuary. They matched so much better in there :) but when we moved to the new Sanctuary, they made the move too. I would love to see them be 'retired' but they seem to have a 'following' and I'm guessing that even if I made new ones to replace them, someone would say they missed the old ones :) I pray you all have a good Christmas, however that looks for you, and that 2016 is filled with more peace than strife. God Bless!

Advent week two

here's the second installment :) on it's way up to the center of the room. and I fixed 'hope' so it's right on both sides. NOW I can sleep at night again :)

temporary shower curtain :)

this is one of those 'why didn't I think of this sooner' ideas. I love the idea of decorating like a crazy woman at Christmas, but have never really found a shower curtain I was happy with- so this year, I found a cheapo flannel backed tablecloth ( the big oblong one) and made my own! It's not super duper strong, but that's ok for this shower as it doesn't get used much, now that all the kiddos are grown and gone :( I folded over the top to make a header, then just measured every 6 inches and poked a hole for the ring to slide through. I cut some off the bottom too, but it might have looked more official if I'd have hemmed it. And I suppose there's no reason it wouldn't work on a 'busier' shower- if you put a clear plastic liner behind it. that's my *happy* of the morning :)
